VALUES
12 Areas of Sustainability
It’s not about being perfect – it’s about making an effort and taking responsibility for the future.
More and more hotels are taking responsibility – for the planet, for people, and for the future.
They’re working to reduce their environmental footprint and to create positive change in their communities.
To show this in a clear and honest way, each hotel shares at least 4 of its efforts across 12 sustainability topics – from energy and water use to food, architecture, and community support.
The symbols on each hotel page make it easy for you to see which sustainability topics the hotel is actively working on.
Every hotel is different – and that’s okay. You decide what matters most to you.
For a deeper understanding, here’s what the categories stand for:
Nature & Conservation
Protection of nature, wildlife, and biodiversity in and around the hotel.
Energy
Use of renewable energy, energy-saving systems, and smart design.
Waste
Waste reduction, plastic-free solutions, recycling programs.
Water

about me
My name is Lili, and for several years I’ve been exploring how sustainability can go hand in hand with my passion for travel. What started as personal research into hotels that use resources responsibly has grown into a mission: to highlight places that care not only for the environment, but also for people and culture.
I believe that sustainability in tourism is more than energy-saving systems or eco-friendly cleaning products – it’s about fair working conditions, respect for local traditions, and designing spaces that live in harmony with nature. Each of the 12 areas on this platform reflects values that matter deeply to me: protecting biodiversity, reducing waste, supporting communities, and creating long-term change instead of short-term profit.
My hope is that more hotels and accommodations will embrace this journey, continuously improving and showing that every small step counts. Together, we can rethink how we travel and shape a tourism industry that truly supports the planet, people, and future generations.
